Patient Reviews of T. Sloane Guy, MD from Google
Although my highest priorities are the safety and effectiveness of the procedures, I also emphasize supporting the patient and their loved ones as fellow human beings. As they go through the challenge of undergoing major surgery, it’s important that myself and all the team involved in their experience see everything from the perspective of the patient and their families. I went through a robotic mitral valve repair surgery in 2017, a few weeks after I turned 48, with Dr Sloane Guy serving as the main surgeon, and the experience was absolutely incredible. The surgery itself was very successful and fully achieved its intended result. Dr Guy found another unrelated and not previously known defect in my heart in the course of the surgery, that he skillfully repaired during the surgery. I was released from the hospital 3 days after the surgery procedure and didn't need any pain medication ever since. I was able to return to walk as usual a few days after I was released from the hospital. In conclusion, the overall treatment and service received by Dr Guy and his staff at Weil Cornell was impeccable and I would highly recommend having a robotic surgery with Dr Guy, if a patient is otherwise fit to have such a surgery
I was referred to Dr. Guy and his team with the help of my Cardiologist. I live in a rural town approximately 6 hours from NYC. I knew that as a 46 year old female that I wanted a minimally invasive mitral valve repair. I was able to do my initial consult with Dr. Guy through a virtual appointment similar to Skype which was beneficial to me as I did not have to make a 2 day trip to NYC for an office visit. Dr. Guy and his medical staff were able to answer all of my questions and were able to assist me in finding lodging for my family directly next door to the hospital. I had a great experience with NY Presbyterian medical staff. I have recovered quickly and returned to work after 6 weeks.
I was diagnosed with mitral valve prolapse. After doing some extensive research I decided to see Dr. Guy and another well known NY surgeon noted for doing mitral valve repair. From from the very first appointment , Dr. Guy and his staff made me feel comfortable and explained the process thoroughly. I live in Myrtle Beach, SC and having surgery in NY was not going to be easy. Not only did myself and my wife need a place to stay, we have four dogs that had to be distributed among family members on L.I. The surgery was done robotic on a Wednesday and I was discharged that Saturday ( Only 3 days later). The following Sunday I drove back home to Myrtle Beach. Having open heart surgery is not a pleasant experience and you want to go to the best, no matter where they are. Well as far as I'm concerned Dr. Guy and his staff are the best. Robotic Surgery is not for everyone and it also has its own risks. Dr Guy takes precautions for these risks. I am 55 yrs old and never want to hear that I need open heart surgery again but its comforting knowing that Dr.Guy is there. Thank You Dr. Guy and your staff for all you did. ( I literally have tears coming down my face at this point). You made a very scary experience as easy as it could ever be and I'll be forever grateful!
I am extremely grateful to my cardiologist for referring me to Dr. Guy. The mitral valve which had been leaking for decades finally necessitated surgery due to increased regurgitation. The surgery was performed the end of April, and the recent 6 month EKG indicates all is well. The surgery was unbelievably painless and the recovery amazingly fast due to the minimally invasive totally endoscopic robotic technique Dr. Guy used. A neighbor, younger than me by few years, who had had the ‘traditional’ repair done was astounded to see me outside walking within less than a week after surgery.
In addition to being an outstanding surgeon, Dr. Guy is personable, compassionate, and easily accessible. At our first meeting he took ample time to get to know me and explain in great detail what the surgery would entail. He has created an equally top notch surgical team, and my family and I cannot say enough about the great care given at New York Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center.
I encourage anyone who is in need of a cardiothoracic surgeon to make an appointment with Dr. Guy.
Robotic mitral valve repair with Dr Guy was excellent and I walked out with a perfect repair with zero regurgitation. One week after surgery I could piggyback a toddler, which is proof of how fine a job was done. From the first administration to the final check out by the nurses, the whole process was impeccable, and the surgery was an utter success. Dr Guy was engaging and refreshingly down to earth, free of the self-impressed elitism of so many Manhattan doctors. The whole team, moreover, was faultless. As was the hospital.
